Phew, what a week it has been! I am now writing this from the darkened ward in Tey’s Maternity and Gynaecologist Centre in Muar, Johor. Yeap, you’ve got it right. My wife just gave birth to our second baby girl!
And you know what that means. A week long off from work for me, which also means no internet connection, no blogging. Only thing that allows me to write this blog is on a Wordpad on my company’s laptop, and my trusty old Canon to take all the pictures that needs to be taken.
And yes, I have gone bald too. Love to blog about my bald head again, but all has been said and spoken, (or blogged and typed) so there really is not much more about my bald head than you have already know.
My baby girl. As of now, we still have not finalized what name to be given to her. She tips the scale on the heavy end, at 4.1 kg, and also taller than her bigger sister at 55 cm! (FYI, Kit Yan weighs in at 3.0 kg and 52 cm when she was born.) Her face is still puffy and her eyes still swollen as of this time of writing, but her wide eye slit and double eye-lid suggests that she inherits her sister’s big eyes too.
Today is the third day of her life. She is typical of all babies her age, sleep for 23 hours a day and only awake to feed. We tried breast-feeding her directly today with limited success. I held her only for the first time today. She feels so vulnerable, so frail, and so sweet!
And my wife! Did I mention that she went through Ceaserean again? Yeah, this also means that she is down on the hospital bed for at least 3 days. Today she got the green light from Dr Tey to be discharged from the hospital, but she requested to stay on for another day. So we’ll go off tomorrow then. But she’ll be staying in Sagil instead of heading back to KL. At least until her stitches are taken off 10 days after her operation. The small one will stay in Sagil, while I will drive back to KL alone to be with Kit Yan. She misses her daddy and mummy, I know. ‘Cause everytime my mum calls me on the phone, Kit Yan will cry in the background. My mum puts her on the phone, and she seems content just by listening to my voice, and just grinned! Silly girl! Don’t worry, daddy will come back soon. But you’ll only see mommy and your baby sister much later. Be patient okay?
Here are some pictures to whet your appetite, as I compile more pictures of the new baby first.
This is the bed that will hold the new baby after she is born into the world.
The baby, minutes after she was born.
This is a clearer picture of the baby girl.
The precious drops of colostrum that the mother expresses. I’d love to show you the process, but I’m afraid that it’s off limit!
