A Chinese New Year full of cars!

Why do I say that? That’s because I have test driven 3 different cars on the first day of Chinese New Year itself! My sister’s hubby’s Proton Saga came in on the Eve of Chinese New Year, and they came to our house on the first day of Chinese New Year in the morning. He gladly lend me his car key for a spin, and I was pleasantly impressed by the car. I have full confidence that it will become the best selling car this year, if not for more years to come. Truly a people’s car! And the Saga legacy lives on.

The second car is also by my brother-in-law, specifically my wife’s sister’s husband. We went back to Sagil for the Chinese New Year holiday immediately after my test drive of the Saga, and we immediately went discussing about his new car, the Nissan’s Grand Livina. A very grand vehicle indeed, and for a vehicle this big, the engine performs surprisingly powerfully, only to be marred by the sub-standard interior and small cabin space.

The final car came from the Accord, no, not the 2008 Accord. The 2005 model, with the original facelift. A great performer with the killer looks to match, but a little disappointing in terms of comfort if you ask me.

So what does this all mean? That my 10-year-old Iswara is going to be sold? I don’t know, I can’t tell. But as for now, the Iswara is still serving me well. Touch wood …..

Car review - Honda Accord 2005

I know, I know. The car is a bit old history already, but you’ve got to admit it. It’s one hot baby! I have always admired the car because of its outlook, of its masculine stature. Truly a man’s car for a powerful drive around the winding roads out of the city. And I only got the chance to drive it only recently. The car belongs to my brother-in-law’s brother. We were discussing about cars and he mentioned how good it feels like to be driving the Accord. He made a surprising gesture when he said that he will let me drive it since his brother was sleeping. Hehehe!

Car review - Nissan Grand Livina

Seems that the year of the Rat brings a lot of new cars into my family. My other brother-in-law, my wife’s sister’s husband, also bought a new car this year. The 2008 Nissan Grand Livina.

One first look at the Grand Livina and the Nissan Murano comes to mind, thanks to the unmistakable front grille.

Car review - All new Proton Saga

A new saga has begun, and I am confident that Proton will continue its tradition of bringing over that authentic Saga driving experience over to this new baby. You and I know what experience that I am talking about. The rickety door, the faulty power window, and the bumpy suspension ….. even at standstill. Yes, Proton has done it again, and I dare not write about it if I have not driven one. And driven one I have! On the first day of Chinese New Year, my sister Cheng came to my house in her husband’s brand spanking new Proton Saga!

I waxed my car!

“So what?”, you said? BIG DEAL really! For those who hasn’t seen (or sit on) my car yet, I own a very old 10 year old Iswara, basic spec. As Mr Yong from Infortech mentioned it himself, “kereta untuk Bangla”. Green matte in colour, which has grown holes on the roof and door. My colleague Jane Chong has appropriate put it, “The Bullet Car”, not because of the association with its speed. ;-)

Happy Chinese New Year!!

Just wanna wish all my readers here a prosperous and happy chinese new year! Gong Hei Fatt Choi! (Hey, I’m Cantonese, so Gong Xi Fa Cai is soooo not me). And …..

…. hey, wait just a minute. Why are you reading blogs in the middle of a Chinese New Year holiday anyway? Go home, rest, be merry! Today is the eve of Chinese New Year, I shall be having my reunion lunch later today. I’m still in the office though, the mood is already there, half the office has retired for the holiday, and we chinese staff are entitled to a half day leave today. Nothing much to do.

So again, for all Chinese readers, go home and gamble. Gambling is in our roots, so go ahead and knock yourselves out. For those non-chinese, you have a long holiday anyway, so go ahead and DO NOT knock yourselves out on the road. Have a safe trip and “Ciao”!

Kenapa pandu 5.6 km?

Tesco and Giant both has established their respective megastores in Puchong for quite some time now. With the recent opening of another Giant megastore in Kinrara, the feud just got a bit hotter. For you who have travelled along the Puchong - Sg Besi bypass in the direction of Sunway / Puchong, you must have seen these bunch of really hilarious signboards.
