Show us your dry-box!

As a photographic enthusiast, I am sure that all of you handle your camera bodies and lenses carefully and ensure that they are well taken care of. I just want to where your baby sleeps tonight. In a fully electronic dry-cabinet, a dry box, or just your trusty ol’ camera bag?

To begin the thread, allow me to first post a picture of where my baby sleeps every night. As a very DIY guy (you’ve probably seen me do that DIY flash diffuser a couple of months back), I tend to look for the cheaper alternatives. I bought an air-tight box from Tesco.

Yes, it’s air-tight. Maybe not a hundred percent, but good enough.

Then I have one of those dehumidifiers put into the box

It made my lenses and cameras smell nice too! 😛

You can see all my sensitive equipments there; lenses, video camera and my video camera DV tapes.

You can even buy one of those “rechargeable” dehumidifiers. You can use them again by heating it in a microwave if they have sucked up enough moisture from the air.

Here it is shown with my CD’s and DVD’s collections. Those things also needs to be stored in a cool and dry place.

Does anybody also does the same thing, or am I just an overly eccentric guy? 😀 I’ve heard that the environment inside the dry-box cannot be too dry, else it will crack the rubber inside our lenses. Can somebody confirm this?

So tell me, where does your baby sleep tonight?
