Sony Xperia Z1 – a short intro

So I’ve been going about my intention to buy a new phone, and here it is now in the flesh, my brand new Xperia Z1! I’m super excited! This is definitely not one of my many impulse buys, which I am famous for. Ask my wife! No, I have definitely been checking the Xperia out for the longest time.

There any many many reasons why I bought this over other phones. I came from an iPhone user, an old 3GS version which I bought from the US. It’s still in working condition actually, and to be frank I have no compelling reason to buy a new phone over the 3GS. It’s just that I am tired of jailbreaking my phone everytime there is a new iOS or a new patch. (Being a US phone, it is locked, so I need to jailbreak it). Since the release of iOS 7, there are no more upgrades available for the 3GS. My wife has already given up on her iPhone 3GS years earlier and has used various Samsung phones, citing the iPhone’s strong radiation. She’s now a loyal Samsung user, and I was slightly enticed by the Android from her Samsungs.

Then comes the next question, “Why not a Samsung?” Pfffttt…..

Come on, another Samsung? Take a look around you? What do you see? Black Samsung, white Samsung, small Samsung, BIG Samsung. You not bored meh? And there is that interface, URRGGHHH!!!!! Fugly couldn’t even comes close to describe it!

My choice were actually between the Xperia Z1, HTC One and Lenovo K900, in that order. If you notice, all 3 phones are Android phones, and all of them have 5 inch screens. They were all flagships of their companies, which meant that they will most probably be updated with the latest Android when it becomes available. I tend to gravitate towards the Sony because of the sleek look, the incredible camera, and the wide range of compatible accessories. In the future my upgrade plan may include a smartwatch and a smartlens, both of which Sony already provide.

So there you have it, I bought the Sony for RM1800, an AP phone, with 2 years warranty! Good deal if you ask me. Let’s see how it performs in the months ahead after I have used it
