P1 is here in Seri Kembangan!! The wait is finally over!! Now I can ditch that stupid Streamyx once and for all and switch over to a world of fast surfing! Or is there?

23rd March 2009

I had not intended to get it at first. I had wanted to go to Jusco Equine to have my mom’s glasses fixed. Then I saw the P1 roadshow going on there. Upon inquiry I found out that my home has got coverage! I couldn’t believe my ears at first, I thought the guy was just pulling my leg just to get sales. But at the same time, a young chinese couple were signing up for the service as well, and they stay in the same taman as mine! Good enough for me, I immediately signed up!

The merits of driving a Proton

In my entire life of living (more than 30 full years of them) I have owned two cars, one a basic Proton Iswara 1.3 (manual) model, and a Proton Wira 1.5GL (auto). Both cars served me well. They does the job well. 4 wheels, roof over my head (although the Iswara has already developed holes by the time I sold it), air-conditioned (always spoilt), and it gets me from point A to point B. No complains on that.

But Proton, being a Proton that we all know, has never really “grown up”. I liken this to a baby, suckling from his mother from birth, right up till he has come of age, when he can do things on his own and earn a living independently from his mother. Imagine, a 20-year-old baby still suckling from his mother?! His younger brother Perodua has already matured by leaps and bounds and has recently overtaken Proton to become to number 1 car maker since the year 2006!

Is that standard accessory with the Proton?

Langkawi Trip 2009

Went on a Langkawi trip with my entire family. It marked a few firsts achievements with that feat. My first time trip to bring the entire trip on a airplane. Hui Yan and Yan Yan’s first airplane ride, although I highly doubt that Hui Yan will have any recollection of it. My parent’s first AirAsia trip to LCCT. On that early morning of 4th March 2009, Cheng’s hubby Kar Weng came to fetch us to LCCT on his hydrogenized Saga BLM 1.3. (It did not feel sluggish although it had a full load with 5 adults and 2 kids. More on that later)

Arrived at Langkawi finally after struggling to calm both the girls down. Hui Yan finally succumbed to tiredness in our lap, something extremely rare.

Upon touching down, we went to the nearest car rental counters. After haggling the price with 3 dealers, we finally settled for a …… Proton Wira 1.5 Auto! 🙁 The exact same car I drive to work everyday! Bummer! Well, it’s RM150 for 3 days, what more can we ask for?

The car is so-so only:

  • It’s got no alarm, have to key-lock manually.
  • Gear box is jerky going from stand-still
  • The rear sensor is busted

Otherwise it’s a fine car, fuel-injected, very powerful and good for a round of hard-cornering.

Hui Yan is almost 11 months now. She is starting to crawl a lot, but she can already stand on her own, albiet a bit unstable. Her teeth are not showing yet, but she has already started on her porridge diet. Will she be able to walk just like her sister during her first birthday, just like her sister? Only time will tell.

Meanwhile enjoy some of her pictures.

What is a Chingay? Get it? Ching-GAY? These men uses long poles and balances them on their body?

* Dead silence *

Never mind …..

Easy. Use EXIFTOOL. Just install it and run from the command line this sentence:

exiftool -tagsfromfile %d%f.CR2 -r -ext JPG dir

where dir is the place where you store the RAW files and the JPEG file. Note that these two must be in the same location, else it wouldn’t work. If done correctly, it should generate a backup of your original JPEG file, so be prepared with a lot of disc space before you run this operation.

It’s Thursday, 5th February, and tomorrow I am scheduled to fly back to KL! YAY! I hope they don’t change their minds last minute. I am already missing my 3 girls back home.

Yesterday I went to have dinner with Kanes. She just started work yesterday since coming back from her home on Monday. We went to Serangoon, a good half-an-hour away from Orchard. It was great meeting an old friend again.

Today there is supposed to be a CNY lunch organized by the hotel for us all. Here are some photos taken during the lunch:

3rd day in Singapore

So far so good. We all stayed in Holiday Inn Park View, just next to Starhub. We now do not have any reasons to arrive late to the office. Even the Singapore users stay there! I saw Siew Heng and Khjyue Kiew checking in.

The room is incredible! 37 inch plasma TV, beautifully renovated, new set of furniture, very contemporary looking.

Nice LCD TV!

Going to Singapore

Today is the third day of CNY. Early this morning, I had to wake my ass up at 6:40 am to prepare myself. For the pass 2 days, I had this terrible diahorrea. This means that I had it since the first day of CNY! Bummer!

The taxi uncle came to pick me up at 7:45 am. He picked up another 3 more passengers in Tangkak before finally going to KLIA. Along the way, I chatted with the auntie beside me. She told me my destiny, among other things, and she has quite a bit of a life experience to share. I reached KLIA at exactly 10 am!

I am writing this from the KLIA bench. I was thinking of whether or not to go to the office first since the conversion has completed their portion early and we might have to start early. Ivan has already left for Singapore this morning. He was initially scheduled to fly with the rest of us (2:30 pm flight) but he had to leave early. Poor thing, he was supposed to fetch his wife to go see doctor this morning! 🙁

Gong Hei Fatt Choi, Happy Ox Year!

It’s the day before CNY, my brother will come around later to have our reunion meals here (both lunch and dinner). And tomorrow I will be going back to Sagil with my wife and kids. After another 2 more days of rest, I will be off to Singapore, to battle it all out.

All these while I have been missing from the blogging scene, it’s all because of this. No, not because of the CNY. I have been busy with the office preparing for this. The launch of a new system in Prudential Singapore. This is really a huge thing, and once everything is over, hopefully I will be able to settle down on things.

Keep posted here for more updates, if I have internet connection and the time to update my blog from Singapore. In the meantime, GONG XI FA CHAI!!!
