6:30 am : She woke up, the kids and I are still asleep. Washed the cloths, 4 pails of them! I am not working today, so sleeps until quite late. Normally I do the washing.

7:00 am : I’m still not yet awake, so she kicked me up. I promised to go see how her typical day would look like.

7:34 am : Barely makes it out from Bandar Putra Permai. There is a terrible jam near the construction site where they are still building Giant. But then again, it is always jammed at the damn Serdang Interchange, with or without the Giant.

7:50 am : Still in MRR2, despite going rather hastily against the rest of the traffic. Suddenly realize she forgot to bring Kit Yan’s Twinkle Star uniform.

New 2010 look

Yay!! I did it! I upgraded both the WordPress core and the theme. The old theme was getting kinda old, and there was a lot of problems with it. Example, it did not support picture captioning, and strikethrough text was buggy. There were a lot more problems than that, so I was only too glad to get rid of it and get a new grunge look. But just for memory’s sake, here’s a snapshot of the old theme, in case you might miss it:

My Toy Story friends

I watched Toy Story 3 with my girl two weeks back. The story is about this bunch of toys that belongs to a little boy named Andy. He loves the toys, and he plays with them, and gives them loving care. Toys don’t grow up, but Andy does. A few years has passed and Andy is now a full grown adult, ready to go to college. But what does he do to the toys?
You are my toy. I “played” with you for 2 years, 11 months. And now I have “grown”. I cannot keep you with me forever. And now we need to part.
There was a scene where Andy picks up his toys one by one, and he described them, and how each of them is important to him. As I check back my 3 years of emails, and compile each and every one of your names, I look back at our history, the things we worked on, how we interact with one another. Each one of you are important to me. Some has moved on, some are still here. Some I meet everyday, some I barely meet at all. Some I may have offended, and for that I am deeply sorry. But for what it’s worth, I just want to say a big BIG thank you. Thank you for being a part of my life. Without you, I am just a name.
!!! — WARNING , spoiler alert, sorry if you haven’t watched the show yet — !!!
But at the end, Andy did not say goodbye. He gave a final long look at his toys, and silently said “Thank you guys”.
I’ve finally understand what he means.
Thank you for all the memories, thank you for being there for me, through thick and thins. But most of all, thank you for being a friend. We may not be colleagues anymore, but that does not stop us from being acquaintances.

Happy Father’s Day to me!

It ain’t easy being a father of two mischievous monkeys. You need to be prepared to spend lotsa time and money with them. And lose a few hairs and weight.

Last Saturday I brought the two of them to Berjaya Times Square. Just so that Hui Yan will not be so left out compared to her sister who goes to the kindies now. But I had a handful trying to control these two hyperactive monsters.

Times Square

We had a short lunch at McDonald’s in BB Plaza. Real short lunch. Didn’t even have time to shop around that place.

Yokohama A Drive

I have recently changed my Altis’s tyres to a set of new Yokohama A-Drive doughnuts. I changed them for RM 185 per piece from Tek Ming in Sunway. Why did I go for this tyre? The main consideration is its price, it’s cheap considering its performance and quietness.

Toy Story 3 has a lot of heart!

I just came back from Sunway, burnt through 5 hours of Toy Story marathon wearing a silly 3D glasses. I only went there with Yan Yan. Mei Fen initially wanted to come, but decided to stay home to take care of Hui Yan.

The marathon began at 7 pm. It was free seating so it was a good idea to come early. But I choose to go have dinner first at Starbucks with Yan Yan. I don’t want her to complain of hunger in the middle of the show.

——– WARNING : slight plot revealed ———-

By now you should have already known what Toy Story 3 is about and seen bits and pieces of it all over the internet. So I would assume that you have already know what the main plot is. Andy is now all grown up and he has to decide how to manage his toys. Toy Story 3 begins with a really great dream sequence of a play scene of Andy with his toys, a mixture from the original Toy Story and Toy Story 2, but in this one, the play scene is more lively and elaborate! Death by Monkey rocks!!

The kid-rolling fun ends roughly 30 minutes into the show and took on a slightly more adult message when the toys are transported to a day care centre. Later they found out that the place is not what it seems, and they hatched an amazing escape plan. Good ol’ Woody, you can always count on him for his resourcefulness.

It is, SERIOUSLY!!

Point in case :

1. This morning I start to weave in and out of traffic while driving to work. You know lar, the road to Cyberjaya so wide, little traffic, but the cars damn slow. Situation made worse when I hear Flo Rider’s “Low” on the radio. YOWSERS!!

2. I got sore thumbs due to pressing the keyboard too hard!

3. Bad affect on your health. One day I was so immersed in the game, as soon as I finished the lap, my hand shivers, I was having cold sweat and I was panting like I just ran a marathon. And my wife happened to see me that moment, commented that I just had a heart attack!

Anyway, on to more games tonight! Maggie Q is just so hawt! 😛

How to change your Wira coolant

Posted: 1st June 2010 by Jacky Yong in Cars

Since my wife’s Wira has been changed to using NGV, the engine runs a bit hotter. There are a lot of discussion about making the engine run cooler, ranging from upgrading to a bigger radiator, using TAP device and installing gear cooler. But nothing beats the basic of giving proper attention to your engine coolant. Therefore I have decided to change the engine coolant myself, so I can be in more control of what goes into the radiator compartment.

Why am I being so choosy? Simply because just putting pipe water inside your radiator will just not be enough. There are also additives that you need to add, not just to make your engine run cooler, but also to protect the innards from rusts and other metal particles.

I am going to document down the process that I took to change the coolant. Please remember that not all cars are as easy to DIY as the Wira. And even among Wiras there are a few models, so not all models are built the same. So when you really want to take the plunge, please practise common sense. I shall not be held responsible for any blunder or bodily injury that you sustain trying this out.

My Wira is the 4G15 engine, manufacturing year is 1998. The radiator is actually made up of two fans spread over one huge radiator block. The two red squares below marks the rough location of the two fans.

The red boxes are the rough locations of the two fans. The arrow marks the location of the plug underneath the radiator.
