Yes, it’s true: I have sold off my Iswara!

Posted: 28th March 2008 by Jacky Yong in Cars, Silly me

For those who have been following my blogs diligently until now, you should have guessed it by now. YES, I have sold off my old green monster, the Proton Iswara 1.3 Sedan Manual, bought in the year 1998. It’s no more, it’s history. Gone!

Thinking back, I can’t say that I hate the car that much. After all, it’s been with me for 10 years! 10 years is a long time for relationship to last. And ADP 7466 has served me well all these years. No, I do not hate the old car, in fact I love it. Err….. loved it. She was my first wife, we went back a long time ago! (I hope my current wife who bears me Yan Yan don’t get jealous for this! :P)

Mudah.com.my – Malaysia’s Marketplace

Posted: 27th March 2008 by Jacky Yong in Computers, Silly me

I’m sure you have by now found out about this site, Mudah.com.my. It’s Malaysia’s very own eBay, without the strict rules of eBay. The page loads fast and clutter free, unlike the complicated interface of eBay.com.my or the very user-unfriendly and advertisement laden page of Lelong.com.my. Its major selling point is that it is completely free for buyers and sellers alike! That is both its strength as well as its weakness.

Strength, because EVERYONE can post ANYTHING at ANYTIME! I once posted a wanted advertisement in mudah.com.my, and it was really easy!

YAY!!! Another 3-G provider that is joining the wireless broadband foray! Rejoice, rejoice! You may be wondering, “Why should I be rejoicing? Does it concern me?” You should. Who Hears a Horton?

Posted: 20th March 2008 by Jacky Yong in Movies and TV Shows

The new animated feature “Horton Hears a Who?” is a Jim Carrey debut feature into the world of voice acting. He has a lot of great movies under his belt. An A-list superstar who commands big bucks. But before he reached where he is now, do you know that he was only a lowly comedian who plays in silly slap-stick comedies TV shows and movies as an extra? I know that, because I have been watching In Livin’ Color since the days it was shown in Malaysia back in the early 90’s. In the TV show, he was known by the name James Carrey. His most memorable character that I can remember is Fire Marshall Bill and the VeraCosa who yells “Mess with my breasts, die like the rest!” You’ve got to see it for the laughs!

The Altis was launched in Malaysia in 2001 as a new rebranding of the ever famous Corolla model. It brings over the proven record of comfort and reliability that has associated itself with the name Toyota. This is a 1.8G spec, ZZE122, meaning the full spec, with all the bells and whistles. Compared to the E spec, this particular spec has got gated automatic shift stick, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), optitron meter among others.

A better tomorrow?

Posted: 10th March 2008 by Jacky Yong in Current Affairs

Now that the dust has settled in Boleh-land, we can look forward a lot of changes in the coming months. I am not surprised at the result of the recent General Election. The BN, particularly the MCA, has been arrogant for way too long.

A Chinese New Year full of cars!

Posted: 23rd February 2008 by Jacky Yong in Cars

Why do I say that? That’s because I have test driven 3 different cars on the first day of Chinese New Year itself! My sister’s hubby’s Proton Saga came in on the Eve of Chinese New Year, and they came to our house on the first day of Chinese New Year in the morning. He gladly lend me his car key for a spin, and I was pleasantly impressed by the car. I have full confidence that it will become the best selling car this year, if not for more years to come. Truly a people’s car! And the Saga legacy lives on.

The second car is also by my brother-in-law, specifically my wife’s sister’s husband. We went back to Sagil for the Chinese New Year holiday immediately after my test drive of the Saga, and we immediately went discussing about his new car, the Nissan’s Grand Livina. A very grand vehicle indeed, and for a vehicle this big, the engine performs surprisingly powerfully, only to be marred by the sub-standard interior and small cabin space.

The final car came from the Accord, no, not the 2008 Accord. The 2005 model, with the original facelift. A great performer with the killer looks to match, but a little disappointing in terms of comfort if you ask me.

So what does this all mean? That my 10-year-old Iswara is going to be sold? I don’t know, I can’t tell. But as for now, the Iswara is still serving me well. Touch wood …..
